Making the impossible possible,
the possible easy and the easy elegant
The Feldenkrais Method is a unique approach of learning that uses movement to enhance the communication between the brain and the body. It releases tension and stress, improves co-ordination and self-awareness and brings us back to our natural harmonious way of functioning.
The method, named after its founder Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais, was begun in the l950s and has developed and evolved since that time. It is widely practised and highly regarded in Europe and North America.
Through increased awareness, our nervous systems automatically find easier alternatives to poor (and often painful) habitual patterns of movement. Improved physical habits lessen undue strain on joints and muscles, enhance physical and mental performance, and lead to a more positive self-image and better overall health.
Individual lessons
(Functional Integration®)
Each lesson is designed around your particular movement habits and needs at the time. You sit or lie on a low padded table, comfortably clothed, while the practitioner guides your movements through gentle touch. Lessons are especially good for addressing specific or long-term problems, and for enhancing your learning in group classes.
Group Classes
(Awareness through Movement®)
In a group class you are guided through a series of movements that promote a relaxed yet focused state. The movements enable you to understand and modify your habitual movement patterns, which may have developed in response to injury or restricted posture. David often gives these audio lessons as homework to strengthen the newly learned pattern from an individual lesson.
